Governing the disposal of packaging material

29 June 2021

MEHNA is pleased to announce the active involvement of its CEO in a significant presentation during a workshop focusing on the new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law, which governs the disposal of packaging materials in Jordan.

The workshop, held on June 29, 2021, was organized in collaboration and with extensive support from key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Environment, the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Cyclos, the GIZ, and various international organizations. This collaborative effort demonstrates the collective determination to enhance Jordan’s environmental standards and create a more sustainable future.

The EPR law, which stands for Extended Producer Responsibility, has garnered significant attention in both environmental and industrial sectors. Its aim is to create a comprehensive framework for the responsible management of packaging materials. It places greater responsibility on producers and manufacturers for the entire lifecycle of their products, from design and production to recycling and disposal.

During the workshop, Aminah Marie delivered a compelling presentation, emphasizing the importance of embracing a more sustainable approach to packaging materials. She stressed the need for a mindset that prioritizes “working to become, not to acquire.” This inspiring quote demonstrates MEHNA’s commitment to environmental stewardship and its dedication to making a positive impact on Jordan’s packaging waste management practices.

MEHNA remains committed to its mission to contribute to environmental sustainability and actively supports initiatives such as the new EPR law. Our company is dedicated to responsible packaging practices, reducing its environmental footprint, and actively engaging in discussions and initiatives that promote a more sustainable environment.
